My approach is holistic, recognizing how culture, identities, lifestyle, sleep, nutrition, movement, and hormonal cycles affect wellbeing or exacerbate symptoms. Our sessions focus on identifying values & strengths, engaging creativity, investigating your coping style, building resilience, and reducing stress thereby improving quality of life and enhancing management of chronic illnesses/disability.

How you feel in your body affects how you are in the world. Loss, illness, trauma - before you know it you've lost your way and the path isn't clear. Counseling can help bridge the gaps between where you are and where you'd like to be. I am here to help you find your home in your self, your body, and in the world.

Are you willing to explore the whole picture of your life?
At Equipoise Integral Counseling LLC, we address your physical experience - including sensations originating from within your body - alongside your thoughts, emotions, energy, and desires.
It can feel vulnerable to explore areas of your life that have been mostly unconscious or on auto-pilot.
Are you willing to consider how you contribute to your struggle?
While it is crucial and healing to acknowledge and grieve what we experienced as children when we were not in control of our lives, as adults, the invitation is to take responsibility for how we may continue dysfunctional behavior in our body, energy, and mind. In order to thrive, we must ultimately be willing to shed the too small, disempowering, and restrictive definition of ourselves as victims, and rise from the ashes of our suffering like a phoenix.
Are you OK with occasionally being uncomfortable?
Growth can be difficult, often requiring us to stretch beyond our comfort zones. At Equipoise Integral Counseling LLC, I see my role as helping clients navigate these challenges and grow beyond their limitations. I tend to be very direct in my communications, yet I maintain a warm and supportive approach. However, not everyone is comfortable with that.
Are you engaging in heavy substance use?
Longterm daily substance use alters our ability to be present and experience things with greater clarity. I understand that sometimes this is necessary for survival. If this is at the center of your coping, I recommend addressing this through substance use programs available locally. Sometimes I will work with a client in active substance use if they are seeing another provider who is assisting them. I assess on an individual basis.
Are you willing to practice between sessions?
Insight is great, but it is not enough to effect change. Our brains learn through interval repetition. At Equipoise Integral Counseling LLC, we understand that in order to change, we have to actually practice new skills.
Are you able to commit to consistent therapy for at least six months?
Change is reinforced by consistency. To grow, you have to show up and change outworn habits. Clients who use the tools and resources I share with them notice almost immediate positive shifts in their mood and capacity to deal with life and relationships.
